5 Easy Steps To A Walt Disney World Vacation
Here are the 5 steps to planning your Disney World vacation:- Choose the time of year to visit Disney World
Picking the time of your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation can make a big impact on your trip, from crowd levels to discounts available to types of activities that are available.
Here are some of the best times to visit Disney World and why:
Lowest Cost:
Mid-January - Mid-February
May before Memorial Day
Late August - early November (Typically FREE Dining Season!)
Early December to mid-December
Festivals and Special Events:
Epcot Flower & Garden Festival - Early March to late May
Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Late August - mid- November
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - September - Oct 31 (Select Dates)
Christmas At Disney - November - Dec 30 (Select Dates in Nov) - Get a travel agent to get you the best deal!
A travel agent is not required to make Disney World travel reservations, but a travel agent that specializes in Disney Travel can make a big difference in your trip including taking the time to help you with dining and FastPass reservations, rebooking your trip if new discounts become available and answering all of your Disney World Questions.
The best travel agents do NOT charge extra for their services and give you a lot of extras to enjoy. We recommend Only WDWorld Travel, but there are also other great Disney specialized travel agents out there. If your travel agent hasn't been to Disney World 50+ times then you are better off finding one that has! - Sign up for the MyDisneyExperience App
Disney World has changed travel forever! The MyDisneyExperience App gives guests the ability to track their reservations, see attractions wait times, and even find restaurants with availability!
This app becomes an integral part of your Disney World Vacation. Along with the wearable tech - MagicBand - Disney World has totally changed the Disney World Vacation experience.
Nowhere else can you check-in to your resort online, receive a text telling you your resort room number and enter your room with your FREE wearable tech MagicBand without ever visiting the resort front desk! - Book Your Dining Reservations
Disney World has a totally different dynamic for making restaurant dining reservations. You are permitted to make reservations 180 days out and some of the hardest to come by will actually fill up close to the at 180 day threshold.
Once you get past the absurdity that you need to make restaurant reservations that far out, you can focus on what you need to get the most out of your Disney World Vacation. Character Dining experiences fill up the quickest, so if those are important then plan on making reservations at 180 days out.
Although a credit card is required when making reservations, if you cancel more than 24 hours prior to the reservation, you will not be charged any cancellation fees.
Sites like Only WDWorld can help you determine which of the over 100 Disney World dining locations are worth visiting during your vacation. - Make Your FastPasses
Disney World has long been a leader in theme park world of allowing special passes to popular attractions with a shorter wait line. Although Disney World was a leader in making these passes FREE of charge, you would have to enter the theme parks early to get access to reserve these passes.
Recently Disney World has made FastPasses available through the MyDisneyExperience App where you can reserve them through the App up to 60 days ahead of time if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.
Although this disrupts the historical advice that you must be at a Disney World theme park at opening to get access to the best attractions, it is still in your benefit to arrive early in the day to be able to visit as many attractions as possible.

The Must Know Top 10 Disney World Summer Vacation Tips!
Don't be caught vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort this Summer without being prepared! The Only WDWorld Top 10 Tips will provide you with the Disney Expert knowledge that you need to deal with the Florida Summer heat and crowds and still have an amazing vacation!
1. Use Disney World's FastPass+ system to your advantage!
The FREE FastPass+ system offered through the MyDisneyExperience App will allow you to avoid the long lines at some of your favorite attractions. Make sure you take full advantage of this tool. If you stay at a Disney World Resort you can book your FastPass+ reservations up to 60 days in advance to guarantee that you will get to experience your favorite attractions during your vacation.EXTRA BONUS Tip: Don't make any FastPass+ reservations prior to 11:00am when the parks are still relatively empty and save them for the busier times!
2. Stay hydrated (for FREE!)
It is extremely important to stay hydrated in the hot Florida summer sun. Nothing ruins your vacation faster than getting sick from lack of liquids in the heat.Disney Insider Tip: When purchasing food at a Disney World Quick Service Dining location that has fountain soft drinks you can ask for either 'Ice Water" or a 'cup of water' for FREE! This can help you stay hydrated and keep your vacation budget in check as well!
3. Don't let rain slow you down!
During the Summer at Disney World it typically rain for brief periods almost every afternoon. Its going to rain, so just plan for it. The smart Disney World guest brings small umbrellas or ponchos with them and doesn't let the rain slow them down or ruin their days. Buy them ahead of time and bring them with you to avoid paying high Theme Park prices for your rain protection4. Arriving at Park opening still best advice!
The best and most widespread advice for Disney World adventuring still holds true. Get to the theme parks at opening to avoid the long lines and greatly improve your ability to see and experience the best Disney World attractions. Use this valuable time to actually experience the attractions and not wander around aimlessly or spend it eating breakfast. Later in the day you may experience wall to wall people and that is when you want to explore the shops, restaurants, and Disney details.5. Beat the heat in the early afternoons!
Disney World becomes very hot (and crowded) in the early afternoons, so the best advice is to zig while everyone else zags! Early afternoons are great times to leave the parks and go back to the resorts for some pool time or to take a nap. You can also use this time to go exploring some of the over 25 different Disney World Resort hotels.Whatever you choose, you are best served by getting out of the heat and the crowds and using this time to relax.
6. Dining Reservations are a must!
Whenever Disney World is crowded, like during the summer months, you need to make dining reservations for any time that you and your family would like to dine at a sit down Table Service Restaurant. Don't leave it up to chance that there may be last minute space available when you have the ability to choose the restaurants that you really want to eat at and make reservations up to 180 days in advance. This is your vacation. Make sure you always get to eat at your first choice each day of your trip It is worth the pre-planning effort!

These are amazing shows that can hold lots of people comfortably. Most are also held in air conditioned locations which provide a great break from walking in the heat.9. Make full use of Disney Transportation Systems
The Disney World Transportation systems provide a plethora of fun experiences to see all that Disney World has to offer. The added bonus is that almost all of it is free to Disney World guests. There are buses, boats, trains, and monorails traveling to all corners of the over 40 square miles of Disney property.10. Check Out the Disney Live Entertainment and Character Schedules!
Each Disney World Theme Park has a large collection of live entertainment performing at regular intervals in addition to all of the well known attractions and shows. By checking out the performers locations and schedules in the daily park guides you have access to unique Disney entertainment that often gets overlooked by the masses that are overly focused upon running from one attraction line to the next. Don't miss this key part of the Disney World experience.Disney World Purple MagicBands are now available!
Disney World guests can now add Purple to the list of colors of MagicBands that they can choose to adorn their wrists during their Walt Disney World Resort Vacations!
There are now 8 colors in all that you can choose from when you Customize your MagicBand on the MyDisneyExperience.com website to prepare for your upcoming Disney World Vacation that includes a Disney World Resort Hotel stay.
The current list of colors include:
- Gray
- Purple
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Pink
Disney World Guests also have the option to personalize their Magic Bands with their name or special tag of up to 9 characters.
Disney World MagicBands
The MagicBands are much more than just a nice decorative bracelet for guests to wear. They utilize RFID technology that allow the MagicBands to take the place of Resort Room Keys, Theme Park Tickets, FastPass+ tickets, Disney's Magical Express Paperwork, and they can even be set up with Room Charging privileges when combined with a 4 digit pin code that you choose.
After some early technological challenges the MagicBands have almost become an indispensable part of your Disney World Vacation. In conjunction with the MyDisneyExperence website and App you can even receive a text telling you when your resort room is ready and what room you have (if you utilize On-Line Check-in). This allows for a stress free, front desk skipping check-in experience that is unlike any other hotel or resort.
What Is Your Favorite Color?
Now that Purple is added to your list of choices, what color will you be choosing for your next Disney World Vacation?
Tips For Your Disney World Holiday Vacation
Spending part of your Holiday Season at the Walt Disney World Resort can be one of the best vacations you ever had. There are so many special attractions to see at Disney World during this time of year that it really is a totally different experience from a summer Disney World Vacation.
By knowing these helpful tips from Only WDWorld, you can avoid letting the heavy crowds dampen your Holiday Spirit and have a great time:
- Recognize that the heaviest times are from Wednesday through Saturday during the week of Thanksgiving and from about Christmas Eve through New Year's Day. If you can visit the Walt Disney World Resort during the first two weeks of December you have have the best of both worlds: lower crowds and all of the Disney Holiday Splendor.
- If we assume that you are planning to visit during one of these two busy times out of necessity, the key is to plan ahead (which you are doing by reading this post!) By getting to the theme parks at opening and avoiding the park with extra magic hours you give yourself the best chance to enjoy the most popular attractions during the first 2 - 3 hours that the park is open. Once you reach the noon to 4:00 pm range the parks will be VERY crowded.
- Make your Disney Dining reservations ahead of time. The most popular restaurants will not take walk-ins on the day you want to dine. You need to make reservations as far ahead of time as possible (up to 180 days prior. ) By having this taken care ahead of time you will greatly reduce stress. We cannot tell you how many tired, disappoint families we have seen that were unfortunately turned away from restaurants because they had no more openings.
- Plan to visit the various Disney World Deluxe Resort Hotels in the afternoon. This is a great way to see some of the best decorations at Disney World and have a fun activity that gets you away from the crowded theme parks. All of these Hotels have restaurants, so you could plan your lunches there as an option. Most highly recommended would be: Grand Floridian Resort, Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Kingdom Lodge if we could only pick 3.
- Take the time to explore the decorations at each of the Disney World Theme Parks. They all have amazing decorations that you should see. Each park is decorated uniquely to fit the "style" of the park.
- The Osborne Family Spectacle Of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios is truly amazing and must be seen. Plan on seeing it early in your vacation, because you may decide you want to see it again before your vacation is over. Pictures and YouTube Videos do not do it justice. There is just an amazing feeling that you get strolling through the Streets Of America while the music is blaring and the lights are dancing in sync to the beat. MUST SEE!
- The Holidays Around The World at the World Showcase in Epcot is becoming more and more of a favorite each year. It is truly a different Epcot experience and is worth the couple of hours to catch as many of these presentations from each country represented. They each share part of their Holiday tradition, whether it is Christmas or a different celebration that is been handed down in their traditions.
- If you celebrate Christmas, then we strongly urge you to see the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. This is a special reading of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator accompanied by a wonderful chorus and a 50 piece orchestra. It takes place in the America Gardens Theatre 3 times each evening. Although it is free, you may be better off to buy one of the Dinner Packages that gives you guaranteed seating to a particular show. A memorable experience for the entire family.
- Bring warm clothes! This cannot be stressed enough. Although central Florida still may be warm during the day, it can get chilly during the evenings and you will wish you had those hats, gloves, sweatshirts or jackets with you. It is not uncommon for the weather to change while you are there, so don't risk it, just remember to pack a few warm items just in case.
- See the decorations and lights at night! The decorations take on a special feel at night, so make plans to see them all lit up. Cinderella Castle really shines and glimmers now that it is transformed into an LED light emblazoned Ice Castle. The effect is amazing.
Disney World Resort Check-In Is Now Envy Of ALL Travelers
The Walt Disney World Resort is revolutionizing travel by making Resort Check-In a totally painless process! The changes that Disney World has made through the use of their innovative technology is now the envy of the travel industry.
Changing The Resort Check-In Process!
One of the least desired parts of the Resort Stay is the Hotel Check-In Process. Having to wait in line to confirm your party, provide your method of payment, and get your room keys is the non-value-added part of travel that all travelers dislike.Disney World has been progressively improving the experience over the last several years by moving more of the process on-line where it can be done at the guest's leisure before they arrive and not consume part of their precious vacation. The last hurdle was picking up the room key.
With the advent of the MagicBand and the integrated MyDisneyExperience process, Disney now had a way to get the room key to their guests well prior to their arrival. The RFID based Magic Bands are a wearable device that are uniquely linked to the wearer and contain not only the ability to be the room key, but also their park tickets, FastPass reservations, Dining Reservations, Disney's Magical Express Reservations, and even a payment system through the use of Resort Room Charge to a previously stored credit card.
Starting around the end of March of 2015 Disney World started testing the process with select guests, but is now making it available to a wider audience.
Your Room Is Ready!
Disney World Guests can choose to be notified by email, text, or both! On the day of your arrival, you receive the message that your room is ready! If you are familiar with the Resort you can go directly to your room and use your MagicBand as your key for entry. No need to go to the front desk, unless you would like to!This makes traveling much less painful, and Disney is leading the way in innovative customer service to take one of the least desired parts of the Resort Hotel stay and eliminate it from the process. Hopefully more hotel chains will be watching and find ways to duplicate Disney's efforts for traditional business and personal travel.
6 Tips For Planning Your Disney World Vacation Arrival Day
You have been waiting for weeks or months for your Disney World Vacation to finally begin. Follow these tips to plan your arrival day to get your trip off to a magical start.
1. Take Advantage Of On-Line Check-In
Reduce your time in line during Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Check-in by utilizing the On-Line Check-in Process found at MyDisneyExperience.com . This allows you to utilize the special lines at Resort Check-in and greatly reduces the time spent checking-in.No matter whether you are flying or driving to the Walt Disney World Resort, if you are staying on property, it is best to check-in at your resort first, before doing anything else. By utilizing this free service you can reduce the time spent here and save more time for enjoying your vacation.
2. Get FastPasses Ahead Of Time With FastPass+
This new feature of MyMagic+ at Disney World has changed arrival day more than anything else. It used to be that you needed to spend a lot of time researching which park would be the least crowded on arrival day, but that has all changed! With the advent of being able to make FastPasses up to 60 days ahead of time if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you can visit the park that you and your family want to visit the most on your arrival day and still get to experience your favorite attractions regardless of the crowds.
The key is to plan ahead of time and choose your FastPasses as close to the 60 day window as possible. The other key is to know when you are arriving at Disney World and make sure that your FastPasses align with the times that you will be getting to the park.
As a recommendation if you are flying into Orlando: Do not have your 1st FastPass+ start less than 3 hours from when your plane lands. This should give you plenty of time to get to your resort then catch Disney Transportation to your favorite theme park without missing the FastPass+ time window.
3. Choose a Dining Location Within The Theme Park
In order to save time on arrival day, choose a Restaurant for Dinner that is located within the Disney World Theme Park that you are visiting. That can give you over an hour of additional time to enjoy the theme park attractions on that time-crunched 1st day.Don't forget that you can make dining reservations up to 180 days ahead of time on-line. Don't take a chance at finding available dining times after you arrive at Disney World. The risk is too great that your favorite restaurants may not have availability and it is not worth the time spent trying to seek out a place during your vacation.
4. Epcot Is The Best Park For An Afternoon Arrival
If you want to reduce stress at the start of your vacation, then pick Epcot for your arrival day destination, especially if you will not get to the park until later in the day.Epcot can easily handle large crowds, even during the busiest seasons without making it feel claustrophobic or packed. This can greatly reduce the stress level and make it easier to see more attractions beyond what you may have FastPasses for.
This advice works no matter what the season or day all year. The only exception can be on the weekends during the Food & Wine Festival where the World Showcase can become quite congested.
5. Adding One More Day To Magic Your Way Is Inexpensive
Many people have tended to avoid going to a Disney World Theme Park on their arrival day for fear of "wasting" an expensive day of park tickets. While this may be true for short vacations, if you are staying more than 4 days, the extra day will only cost about $10 per person. This makes it very inexpensive to add the extra day of park tickets and not be afraid to visit a Disney World park on arrival day.You have waited so long for this trip, don't deprive yourselves of that amazing feeling of walking through the gates of your favorite Disney World Park. For many this is when their vacation truly begins.
6. End your day with Fireworks!
The perfect way to end your arrival day at Disney World is to see fireworks! Both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot have nightly fireworks shows that are truly amazing. If you are not going to be at either of those parks you can see most of the Magic Kingdom fireworks show from the beach at the Polynesian Resort or catch the Epcot show from the Board Walk. Both of those options are free and do not require a ticket.Disney World Ticket Prices Increase For 2015!

Save Money By Choosing Multi-Day Options

From the 1-day ticket that is now over $100 for the Magic Kingdom to a 10-day ticket that is only $36.50 per day. The down side is that the tickets expire 14 days after the initial use, so they are only good for the duration of one vacation.
Select Ticket Options
With the Park Hopper Option, you enjoy same-day access to all 4 Disney World theme parks–Magic Kingdom park, Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom park and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The Water Park Fun & More Option gives you 7 visits to select Walt Disney World destinations.

Prices to add these options are the same whether you have Child or Adult Tickets.
Capture Those Memorable Disney Moments With The Memory Maker!
Pictures, Photographs, Snapshots, Pics, whatever term you use to call them, are the most popular souvenirs for guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and with the new Memory Maker Option it is easier than ever to have a lot of great pictures to remember your Disney World Vacation.
Disney Memory Maker
We were anxious to try out and review the Disney Memory Maker so we purchased it for our recent trip to Disney World. The Memory Maker is a new way to enjoy unlimited digital Disney PhotoPass photos captured at locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort including select attraction and dining locations. The photos are conveniently connected to your online Disney account with a touch of your Magic Band or card. The cost of the Memory Maker (MM) is $199.00 but you can save $50.00 if you purchase the MM at least five days before your vacation. We found the Disney Memory Maker very easy to use. If purchased online, the MM will be automatically linked to your Magical Disney Experience (MDE). If you are traveling with family and friends to celebrate a special occasion, you can add people to your family and friends list to enable you to view and download their photos – a big plus in our opinion. When each photo is taken at the various locations, the photo will be linked to your MDE account with a touch of your magic band. Once you download the first photo, you have 30 days to capture more photos. Photos remain in your account for 45 days after they are taken. You are able to add special features to the photos such as the date and magical effects (characters, Disney borders, and dates). After downloading you can use your photos however you wish – get prints at your local photo store or post to Facebook.
Disney Vacation Tip: Don't forget to ask your Disney Photopass Photographer to also take pictures on your camera or phone. They will do this whether you have purchased the Memory Maker option or not!
Overall we were very satisfied with the Memory Maker. There’s no need to purchase each photo individually so if you’re a family who typically orders a lot of photo pass pictures, the MM is for you. We loved the ride pictures and we were so surprised to see our ride video from Tower of Terror (TOT) and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (7DMTP. If you happen to dine at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Chef Mickey's or Be Our Guest Restaurant for dinner these photos will also be included. There were lots of photo opportunities at Magic Kingdom but we wish there were a few more photo opportunities at the other parks. We think the Disney Memory Maker is especially a great idea for special Disney vacations such as birthdays and family reunions. It allows you to enjoy your vacation simply knowing that your Disney memories are being captured for you.
