It’s time for Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios again!

Star Wars Weekends is the annual Disney World tribute to the Star Wars movies, television series, and characters that lasts four weekends each year. This year is special because it coincides with the 30th Anniversary of “The Empire Strikes Back.”

Star Wars Weekends are filled with activities that are included with your Hollywood Studios admission.

American Idol Season 9 Champion Crowned
Lee DeWyze was crowned the 2010 American Idol on May 26th beating out Crystal Bowersox to become the Season 9 Champion.

Taking advantage of the American Idol partenership with Disney and the Disney Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Lee DeWyze became the latest to star in that classic line of commercials where the newly crowned champion gets to declare "I'm Going To Disney World!"

2010 marks the 15th Anniversary of Epcot's Food & Wine Festival which will run from October 1 through November 14.

During this incredibly popular Epcot event more than 25 international marketplaces are set up around World Showcase to tempt your palette with their delightful cuisines and tasty beers and wines.

Excitement At Disney's Animal Kingdom
Yesterday, May 20th, a new female baby elephant was born at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  The new baby calf which is the 5th to be born at Disney World, weighed in at 288 lbs.

The new addition now increases the herd at Disney's Animal Kingdom to 13 elephants including 8 females and 5 males.

As part of its new Summer Nightastic! special attractions for 2010, the Walt Disney World Resort will be debuting a special fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom.  Starting June 6th and continuing through August 14th, the new Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Spectacular will light up the night sky each evening at the Magic Kingdom.

Disney's Art Of Animation Resort
Disney announced today their plans to build a new 2,000 room Value Resort Hotel called Disney's Art Of Animation Resort.

The new resort will feature theming from classic Disney Animated Films: The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo.

Star Wars Weekends will be returning to Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 21st for the first of four weekends of this action packed event.

To promote Star Wars Weekends, Disney World has created 6 promotional posters that will be on display throughout the Orlando Area to promote the Disney Parks annual tribute to Star Wars.  You can find these posters on display everywhere from the Orlando International Airport to billboards.

Best Disney World Quick Service Restaurant For 2010
At the Walt Disney World Resort only one restaurant can be chosen as "Best Disney World Quick Service Restaurant."  For 2010, Only WDWorld awards that lofty distinction to "Wolfgang Puck Express" located in the Marketplace section of Downtown Disney.

The party will be called: Last Tour to Endor. This is a special event on the Saturday night of Star Wars Celebration V – THE official Lucasfilm fan convention and the biggest Star Wars party in the galaxy!

The American Idol Experience is more than just an attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  It is a way to get your foot in the door for the "real" American Idol.

Well, that's exactly what my family got a chance to see during a recent Disney World Vacation.  This unexpected treat became a highlight of our Disney trip.  The fact that it was so different from the usual Disney World experience made it special.

Star Wars Fans will recognize Bounty Hunter Aurra Sing from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and more recently from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie and TV Series.
