2016 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Dates Announced!
The Walt Disney World Resort has a special way to celebrate Halloween each year at the Magic Kingdom Theme Park and for 2016 it will include 29 special nights of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.
This separately ticketed event held at the Magic Kingdom is a family friendly Halloween party that everyone can enjoy. (Who doesn't love trick-or-treating where the parents can get candy also!)
Here is the full list of this year’s dates:
- September – 2, 8, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 29, 30
- October – 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31
Each year features your favorite Disney Characters dressed in their finest Halloween costumes, special Halloween decorations, special Halloween themed live shows, the famous Boo To You Halloween Parade and it is capped off with the ever-popular Hallowishes fireworks display.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2014 Dates Announced!
Celebrate Halloween with your favorite Disney Characters at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom this year. It is a great chance to dress up in costume, trick-or-treat, and get great pictures with your favorite characters in their Halloween Costumes. You also won't want to miss the special Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade or the special version of HalloWishes Fireworks.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Returns To Disney World
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has returned to the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort for 23 nights of Halloween fun. This family friendly Halloween party is suitable for all ages and it also is one of the very few times where guests are encouraged to wear costumes in the Magic Kingdom theme park.
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
In what is now a fall tradition Disney World has expanded the Halloween season to the middle of September to allow more Disney World Guests to partake in this fun event. Party goers young and old are encouraged to dress up in costume and have fun along with all of your favorite Disney Characters who are also in costume for the party.
Boo To You Parade
The highlight of the evening is the Boo To You Parade which is shown twice at each party. Here you will see special floats and the Disney Characters in special Halloween Costumes. The Haunted Mansion also gets special representation in this parade with multiple floats.
The parade always starts off with a ride of the headless horseman.
Disney Characters abound during this parade both on the floats and walking the parade route.
MNSSHP is also a great time to see your favorite Disney Villains. They appear to be in an especially good mood during this event and there are chances during the evening to get your photo taken with them.
The ghoulish dancers that recreated the ballroom dancing of the Haunted Mansion precede the special floats dedicated to the featured Magic Kingdom Attraction for Halloween.
Speaking of attractions, most of the park attractions are open throughout the party, so make sure that your costumes are safe to wear on the attractions.
Plan Your Night To Attend
There are 23 nights to choose from to attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party for 2012:
- Sept. 11, 14, 18 21, 25, 28, 30;
- Oct. 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25, 28, 30 and 31;
- Nov. 2.
This party is what is called a "hard ticketed event." This means that a separate admission is required and your normal Park Admission will not get you in. The Magic Kingdom will close at roughly 7:00 pm each evening as the party begins. All who do not have a ticket will be asked to leave the park at the time. The MNSSHP will run from 7:00 pm until 12:00 Midnight.
Like most Disney World Special Events, we would not recommend this for first time Disney World Guests. The reason is that there is so much of Disney World to take in you will already by overwhelmed and there is not a need to go to the extra expense during that initial visit. If you have been to Disney World a couple of times, then this party may be what you are looking for in terms of something different to try and experience. The ticket prices are steep, but it is a fun night. It is most enjoyed when you are in costume. It is not required, but if you are spending that much money to go to a Halloween Party, then by all means go in costume and enjoy yourself.
The only Haunted House during the party is the Disney World Haunted Mansion. You won't find anything gory or bloody. The only scares are the Disney Villains being themselves.
Lastly, we would be remiss if we didn't mention the trick-or-treating. Everyone, the young and the young at heart is given a bag for trick-or-treating and is welcome to go through the designated lines throughout the park to receive candy. You do NOT need to be accompanied by a child to receive candy.
The best advice is to go and have fun. It is a party after all!

Disney World Halloween Tradition: Mickey's "Boo To You" Halloween Parade
Mickey's "Boo To You" Halloween Parade
The "Boo To You" parade is presented twice each evening during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Unfortunately you will not be able to see this special Halloween themed parade unless you attend this hard ticket (separate admission) event.
The parade begins with a ride through the streets of the Magic Kingdom by the Headless Horseman. His appearance will certainly get your attention as he follows the parade route from Frontierland to Town Square. As you can see from the picture above he looks quite authentic as his horse gallops by.
The parade itself is a combination of the fun and the spooky, but never gruesome or gory. You will see many of your favorite Disney Characters dressed up in their Halloween costumes. The Disney Villains always just dress up as themselves.
You will find Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Donald Duck on the first float in the parade. Their float looks like a gazebo decorated for Fall.
Next you will see Winnie the Pooh and friends followed by Rabbit, Kanga & Roo along with the Tree from the Hundred Acre Woods float.
Peter Pan and the Lost Boys travel by foot, but Captain Hook travels in style on his pirate ship.
Dancing pirates are followed by this Pirates of The Caribbean inspired float.
One of the most impressive parts of this parade are all of the dancing performers that appear between the floats. Here, in a tribute to the Haunted Mansion, is a crew of grave diggers that put on a great show.
The first of two floats dedicated to the Haunted Mansion pays tribute to the gravestones that are featured just before you enter. On the float is a re-creation of the tombstones for Master Gracey and Madame Leota.
These dancers that re-create the ballroom scene from the Haunted Mansion also did a great job. I was also reminded of Michael Jackson's Thriller video when I saw them.
The last tribute to the Haunted Mansion is a float that has the three famous hitch hiking ghosts. This was a really clever idea that looked great.
Not to be forgotten the Country Bears had a float and played some music to lighten the mood.
Who doesn't love Chip 'n Dale? They have to be the most frequently seen Disney Characters at Disney World. They are everywhere! (Trivia Tip: Chip is the one with the black nose!)
This ghoulish band looked great as it was time for some Disney Villains to make their appearance.
No Halloween parade would be complete without Maleficent! (Readers of The Kingdom Keepers series know that she is the Disney Villain to watch out for!)
Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who's the fairest of them all? Certainly not the hyenas.
Since Goofy's Candy Company appears to be the official sponsor and candy provider for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) there has to be a float with Goofy and his candy making machine. The back side shows all sorts of contraptions and the air full of bubbles as it goes by.
Summary
Mickey's "Boo To You" Halloween Parade is certainly the highlight of MNSSHP. You get to see many, many Disney Characters, tributes to classic Disney World Attractions like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, and great performers in spectacular costumes. The one part of the parade that isn't captured in the pictures is the great music. The music sets the mood and will leave you singing along well after the parade has gone by.
Although Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is an expensive event that requires a separate ticket, I would still recommend that Disney World fans plan on attending at least once. This really is a different Magic Kingdom experience that is a lot of fun. Plan on dressing up in costume, no matter how old you are. That is part of the fun of being at Disney World - you are allowed to be a kid again!
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party At The Magic Kingdom
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party nights are: Sept. 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30; Oct. 1, 3, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31; and Nov. 1.
Note: Disney World does reserve the right to determine that a costume may not be appropriate and ask a guest to modify or change. This is also the one event where Disney does allow guests to wear masks, but eyes must be visible.
The MNSSHP runs from 7 p.m.-to-12 midnight. (You may enter the Magic Kingdom at 4:00 pm with your event ticket.) The special "Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade," that is not to be missed, takes place at 8:15 and again 10:30 p.m. Tip: The 2nd parade is always less crowded and you will be able to get a better view. Also attraction lines will be shorter during the 1st parade.
The special “Happy HalloWishes” fireworks spectacular is at 9:30 p.m. All of these special events put a special Halloween twist on your typical Magic Kingdom experience. Even your favorite characters will be in costume.
During the MNSSHP most of the rides and attraction at the Magic Kingdom are open, so make sure that whatever costume you decide to wear is easy to move around in, and can make it on and off of the attractions.
In addition to the attractions, there is trick-or-treating, meet and greets with characters and entertainment unique to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This is a fun Halloween event and like the name indicates, it is not scary and is suitable for all ages. Note: You will probably see more of the Disney Villians than normal, in case your young ones are afraid of them.
MNSSHP Ticket Prices
Prices are $59.95 (ages 10+) and $53.95 (ages 3-9) for all dates except Oct. 29 and Oct. 31 when tickets cost $64.95 (ages 10+) and $58.95 (ages 3-9). Advance purchase (prior to event day) savings of $6 per ticket are available for the parties on Sept. 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30; Oct. 1, 3, 7, 11, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 26; and Nov. 1.
There are also additional advance purchase discounts available on select nights for DVC Members and Annual Passholders. If you are one of these please check the DVC or AP website for more details.

Disney World Decorates The Magic Kingdom For Halloween
Disney World has decorated the Magic Kingdom for Halloween again this year. They do a great job of adding the Halloween decorations without eliminating the hometown feel of Main St.
The colorful banners and pumpkins look appropriate for the season and add to the park instead of detract.
In a special display near the entrance to the park, you will find these Halloween figures.
These Scarecrow figures represent different elements of Main St. from Casey's, the Main St. Bakery, the Main St. Emporium, the candy shop, the band, and even the Mayor.
Also note the detail put into using the purple/black grasses and orange flowers to further accent the display. No detail too small for the folks at Disney World.
