Frozen Ever After: A Review of Epcot's Newest Attraction
Epcot's World Showcase welcomes a new Disney World dark ride that takes Disney guests into the world of the tremendously popular animated movie Frozen called Frozen Ever After. Residing in the Epcot Norway Pavilion in the former home of Maelstrom is one of the most anticipated Disney attractions.
Located in the back of the Norway pavilion, Frozen Ever After is your chance to transport to the world of Arendelle and see your favorite Frozen Characters.
The pre-ride queue area is vastly different than Maelstrom and Frozen fans will appreciate the attention to detail.
Your invitation to the Summer Snow Day Celebration states:
Hear ye! Hear ye!
The Kingdom is invited to a Summer Snow Day Celebration In honor of the day that
Princess Anna
saved her sister
Queen Elsa
with an unselfish act of true love.
All Shall Be Welcome to a Royal Reception inside the Ice Palace.
The queue shows you a view inside Arendelle to see this charming country, The attention to detail is well done and there is quite a lot to see while you wait to board your ship to Queen Elsa's Ice Palace.
The royal Proclamation denotes that it is time to partake in the Official Summer Snow Day!
The journey to the Ice Palace starts by entering the Frozen world, meeting Olaf and Sven, the rock trolls, and then Olaf prepares us to meet the Royal hosts.
Now we see Princess Anna and Kristoff joined by a mischievous Sven with his tongue stuck to a frozen post. This sets the scene for us to enter Queen Elsa's Ice Palace
Queen Elsa greets us singing her most famous song "Let It Go!" as we tour the amazing Frozen Ice Palace.
Now we quickly move through past Marshmallow and plunge briefly only to be rejoined by Olaf and Princess Anna and Queen Elsa standing hand-in-hand.
Frozen Ever After: Review Summary
This Disney World dark ride is very well done, especially considering it needed to stay within the footprint of the previous Maelstrom attraction. Frozen fans will really enjoy the attraction, as this ride pays great attention to detail and works in key story elements and characters. This is definitely one of the better Disney World dark rides that have been created to pay homage to Disney animated moviesAlthough we at Only WDWorld feel that this ride does not belong in Epcot's World Showcase, the ride itself is enjoyable.
We would love to hear your impressions of Frozen Ever After! Please leave your Ride Review in the Comments!

Disney World Announces 'Frozen' Attraction Coming To Epcot
Disney World has officially announced that the Maelstrom attraction in the Epcot Norway Pavilion will be replaced with a 'Frozen' Themed Attraction. They also announced additional opportunities to meet & greet Anna and Elsa from Frozen in Epcot, as well as, a 'Frozen' themed lighting of Cinderella Castle starting in November to turn it into an ice palace.
Check out all of the 'Frozen' themed news reported from the Disney Parks Blog:
We’ve made “Frozen” a part of the guest experience in a number of ways already and our guests have both loved them and asked for more. So I’m pleased to say that we’re starting construction at Walt Disney World Resort on a brand new “Frozen” attraction at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot. The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film. The pavilion will also include a royal greeting location where Anna and Elsa can meet our guests. We think these “Frozen” elements are great complements to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film.
“Frozen’s” popular characters will also have a bigger presence at Magic Kingdom Park this holiday season. In addition to the ongoing character appearances, Queen Elsa will use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November. And Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party-goers can see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf in “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.”
We’re extending some favorite elements of Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!, too, so that guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can continue singing along to “Frozen” songs with Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. Wandering Oaken’s will set up shop closer to the show through the holiday season and will feature a larger play area with real snow (in Florida!).
From the moment we screened the film several months before its release, we were inspired by the possibility of bringing this great story to life for our guests. Frozen Summer Fun LIVE! has been extremely popular, and now we’re looking forward to doing even more to allow our guests to experience the “Frozen” phenomenon.
Meet Frozen's Anna & Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall
One of the most sought after things to do at Disney World these days is to meet the stars of Frozen: Princess Anna, and Queen Elsa. At the Princess Fairytale Hall in the Fantasyland area of the Magic Kingdom, Disney Guests can not only meet them, but talk to them, get an autograph, and even have a couple of pictures taken with them.
Princess Fairytale Hall
For those of you not familiar with Princess Fairytale Hall at the Magic Kingdom, it is a fairly recent addition as part of the massive Fantasyland Expansion that has happened over the past several years. The Princess Fairytale Hall is actually the building where Snow White's Scary Adventures ride took place. It is located just past Cinderella Castle and very near to Princess Charming's Regal Carousel. The building is home to a rotating group of Disney Princesses that you can meet and greet. Currently the most popular one's are Princess Anna and Queen Elsa, who have had Standby lines that have exceeded 4 hours long. Please note that two different groups of two Disney Princesses can be seen at any time. Please check the signs to make sure you are getting in the correct line for who you are looking to meet.
Although the lines still may not be quite 4 hours long, 90 minutes or more is still pretty routine, so we would highly recommend reserving a FastPass+ to see them. It is well worth it and takes the wait down to less than 5 minutes!
Frozen's Princess Anna
Unlike a typical Disney Character Meet & Greet where the character cannot speak with you, meeting a Princess is an entirely different ordeal. Each guest gets to have their own personal conversation with the Princess to learn a little about each other during their brief meeting.Princess Anna is true to her movie persona. She is spunky and full of energy and carries on a lively conversation. Anna fans will not be disappointed.
Frozen's Queen Elsa
Meeting the Queen is different from meeting a Princess. Queen Elsa is definitely more refined and reserved, but you will not get a chilly reception from the Frozen star. She makes all of the guests she meets feels welcome and chats with them as she signs autographs and takes pictures with them.Frozen Fans will love this experience and should not pass up the only place at the Walt Disney World Resort to be able to have a conversation with Queen Elsa, get her autograph, and have your picture taken while she poses with you.
