Disney World is for runners? I don't remember that in the commercials.
That may be true, but in case you haven't noticed, Disney World has put together an impressive annual lineup of endurance races for runners.
There are now several running events that will appeal to all types of runners. There is something for the serious runner as well as those who are somewhat less than serious. The races include courses that travel through the theme parks. How cool is that?
Each year starts off with the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January. The weekend has a whole series of events including a marathon, half marathon, a race and a half marathon, 5k, and a kid's race.
Then there is the Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend in March.
Here is a video clip about the Princess Half Marathon:
The fall brings three fun events. It all starts off with the Expedition Everest Challenge which is a combination 5K run and scavenger hunt. You have the 10K Race for the Taste in conjunction with Epcot's Food and Wine Festival on October 11th. Last there is the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K & 5K on October 24th.
Check out the Disney video about these three races:
You can register for these events online and also learn more about upcoming Disney Running Events at http://www.disneyenduranceseries.com/ .

Each event throughout the year is done in Disney style with special medals and the fact that the race courses work their way through the theme parks and may have Disney Characters cheering you on along the way. There are also fun after race parties and events.
If you enjoy running, here is another reason to look into scheduling a Walt Disney World Resort vacation: To Take Advantage of the great Endurance Running Events.
