The Walt Disney World park that is currently known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened on May 1st, 1989. It has combined a Hollywood, Disney Movie, and Working Studio theme with partnerships with Pixar, George Lucas’ Stars Wars & Indiana Jones franchises to create an action packed theme park.

The park contains three of the most popular attractions in Disney World:
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – A visit to the Twilight Zone takes you to the Hollywood Tower Hotel where you encounter a 13 story elevator ride that randomly changes every time you ride it.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – A high speed limo ride looping through Los Angeles to an Aerosmith soundtrack.

and the recently opened
Toy Story Mania – The characters from the Toy Story Movies take you through a series of 3-D Midway style games as you attempt to rack up points using your on-board spring-action shooter and set the high score.

There are also two different live action stunt shows:
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular – A live action stunt show that recreates many of the favorite scenes from the original Raiders of the Lost Ark movie.
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show – Amazing vehicle stunts performed live, including jumps and fantastic chase scenes. A few behind the scenes looks at how it is all done also.

Live Performance Shows:
Beauty and the Beast – Live, Broadway style musical telling the story of Belle, the Beast, and the other wonderful characters from this animated classic.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid – Live musical with fantastic puppetry and special effects to make you believe you are underwater as Ariel relives the events from the movie.
Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage! Interactive show featuring some of Playhouse Disney’s current stars. This is a great opportunity for your youngster to see these characters perform live and up close.

The park has also incorporated the popular High School Musical phenomena into a High Energy Live Performance that occurs several times per day.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has an excellent blend of thrill rides and live actions shows and performances that help differentiate it from the other Disney parks. There are also several other attractions that pay homage to the classic movies (Great Movie Ride) & how movies are made (Studio Backlot Tour, The Magic of Disney Animation, Sounds Dangerous – Starring Drew Carey).

Lastly each night wraps up with a performance of Fantasmic!: a spectacular show starring Mickey Mouse featuring live action, lasers, lights, dancing fountains and special effects.
