Choosing The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
Today we are going to look at the Quick Service Dining Plan and several compelling reasons that you may want to choose it for your next Walt Disney World Resort Vacation.
What Is The Quick Service Dining Plan?
Let's start off by defining what makes up the Quick Service Dining Plan. For each night of your Disney World Resort stay you receive:
- Two (2) Quick Service Meals that include: Entree or Combo Meal, Non-Alcoholic Beverage, & Dessert.
- Two (2) Snack Items - These are single serving food items that usually sell for $4.00 or less and are denoted by the Disney Snack Symbol on the menu boards (most often - Drinks, Desserts, Snack items).
- One (1) Refillable Resort Mug - This mug can be used for soft drinks, coffee, and hot chocolate and refilled for free at your resort during the duration of your stay.
Note: If you purchase this dining plan, you must purchase it for all members of your party, and for the entire stay for that reservation.
Reasons For Choosing Quick Service Dining Plan
There are many different reasons for selecting the Quick Service Dining Plan. Here are some of the most popular:
- It is the least expensive of the Disney Dining Plans. It allows you to make your vacation into an all-inclusive package, that you know your expenses up front. This can be a great help with budgeting.

- Saves Time - If you are the type that would rather be spending your time on rides and attractions, than sitting in a restaurant, this plan allows you to do so.
- Group goes their separate ways - If you have a family that likes to split up for awhile and then regroup later, this gives you flexibility for each person to eat what they want, when they want. Each person will get their own card with access to redeem their dining credits when they need them.
- Splitting Meals - If you want to split meals, you can do that. This is not typically possible in the Table Service Restaurants, but it is not a problem with the Quick Service meals.
Unlike the stereotypical theme park fast food, Disney World Quick Service Offers a wide variety of tasty food options that you may not have expected. Here are some favorite dishes and where you can find them:

Flame Tree Barbecue Offers Much More Than Great Food At Disney's Animal Kingdom
When it comes to Quick Service Dining locations at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park the Flame Tree Barbecue should be at the top of your list.
This centrally located restaurant that you can find on your way to Dinoland, has a great menu for fans of barbecued food. Here you will find on the menu: 1/2 slab of St. Louis Ribs, 1/2 Barbecued Chicken, BBQ Pork Sandwich, Smoked Turkey Breast Sandwich, & BBQ Chicken Salad.
If you are using the Disney Dining Plan, you are looking at a virtual feast for your family, all for one Quick Service Dining Credit per person.
This picture shows what a family of four could get using the Disney Dining Plan or the Quick Service Dining Plan.
This is certainly a feast that could be shared, especially if this is your lunch. This is a great way to save Dining Plan Credits so that you can use them for breakfast.
(Disney Dining Plan Tip: Share meals at Quick Service Locations that serve large portions so that you can have extra credits left over to eat Quick Service Meals for Breakfast.)
One of the great features of the Flame Tree Barbecue is the beautiful scenery that can be found in the eating areas behind the restaurant.
The pavilions are beautifully themed with the animal carvings and you can choose to sit near the courtyard or waterside on the lagoon with a view of Expedition Everest.
The great thing about this couryard and these pavilions is that even on very busy days, it appears that due to the fact that they are not visible from the main walkways, many people never even realize that they are there. That means that they are rarely full and often your family may get nearly an entire pavilion to yourselves in which to enjoy your meal.
This really heightens the sensation of being in a tropical forest and adds to the Animal Kingdom experience.
Come For The Food Stay For The Scenery
The Flame Tree Barbecue has much to offer. The food is very tasty. It is one of the best values for people using the Disney Dining Plan. The portions are large enough to share or quench that hearty appetite.
Above all else the setting and secenery that can be found at the seating behind the restaurant is reason enough to visit the Flame Tree Barbecue. It is a place where you can escape, relax, and enjoy your meal and your day at Disney World.
Money Saving Tip: Some Things Are Still FREE At Disney World
When you are looking to save money during your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation it is important to know as many tips as possible.
Here is one tip that can save you a lot of money during your next Disney World Vacation:
At all Disney World Quick Service Restaurants you can order Ice Water (Tap water in a cup with ice) instead of a soft drink and save over $2 per person. The Ice Water is not on the menu, but it is available and the best part is it's FREE.
This is not a rumor, but a real tip. See the picture below showing an actual Disney World receipt from the Pizzafari in Disney's Animal Kingdom last week. The Regular Cup Of Water is shown for $0.00.
If you are looking to be healthy and avoid the soft drinks anyway, this is a healthy alternative. You do not have to resort to the expensive bottled water, you can drink the tap water with ice.
Over the length of your vacation this can really add up to a lot of savings, especially if you were planning on drinking water anyway. If you eat 2 Quick Service Restaurant meals per day during your trip, you could save $5 per person each day. For a family of 4 over a typical 6 day trip, you could save as much as $120.
That is a lot of money spent on soft drinks!
So keep this tip in mind during your next Disney World Vacation and don't be afraid to ask for Ice Water, so you can spend your money on something else!
