The Jungle Cruise Relies On Skilled Boat Captains To Deliver The Punch Lines At Disney World

When you visit Disney World the Jungle Cruise is one of those attractions that the whole family must do. This slow paced boat ride attraction in the Magic Kingdom's Adventureland takes you on an adventure through the Amazon, Congo, Nile, and Mekong Rivers.

The boats are still captained by humans and these Captains are the ones that make this irreverent adventure fun. As they guide the boat through the attraction, they constantly are pointing out the sights to see and they keep you laughing with their corny jokes.

Of all of the Disney World positions operating the ride based attractions, the Jungle Cruise Captain must be amongst the most prized position for the Cast Members. It takes timing and coordination to pilot the boat and deliver the punch lines.

Although none of the animals in the attraction are real, Walt Disneney himself originally envisioned the Jungle Cruise to have real wild animals. When they couldn't figure out how to consistently keep real animals in the same spot all day to be seen, they opted for the animatronic versions.

Despite all of the work that has gone into creating all of the scenes and animatronic figures along the ride, the real success of the attraction lies with the boat captain. A good captain will make this a fun experience that you will want to repeat again, just to hear those corny jokes one more time.

The attraction has such a following that there are even websites dedicated to it. One of the best is: World Famous Jungle Cruise.

Here is a video of the attraction. Enjoy all of the corny jokes, although watching may create that urge to rush to the Magic Kingdom to visit the Jungle Cruise: (This boat is Captained by Cast member Michelle Moreno)

I absolutely agree that the cruise goes as its captain goes. During our last stay, we went in the cruise the first day of the trip, and the captain was so incredible that the entire boat was chanting his name as we pulled back up to the dock. We made his day and he made ours. The experience was so perfect that I did not want to ride again for the rest of the trip and ruin the perfect cruise!
