Run All Year Long With The Disney Endurance Series

The Disney Endurance Series is much more than the Disney World Marathon.  It is a collection of endurance running events that occur throughout the entire year.  Most of the events include multiple races, seminars, and activities for the entire family.

2010 Disney Endurance Series Schedule
This is the schedule for the remainder of 2010:

Champion 5K at ESPN The Weekend  - February 27th at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  This is the shortest event of the series and coincides with the ESPN The Weekend Events.  The race starts at 7:00 am and the course will take you through Disney's Hollywood Studios before it opens.

Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend - March 5th - March 7th.  This half marathon is for the women.  In the inaugural event last year there were over 6,100 women that completed the half marathon.  Entertainment during the race and after is geared towards making each women feel like a princess. The course runs through Epcot and the Magic Kingdom.

Expedition Everest Challenge - June 12th.  This fun event has moved from the Fall to an early summer date for 2010.  This event combines a 5K Race, obstacle course, and scavenger hunt all into one fun evening at DIsney's Animal Kingdom.

Disneyland Half Marathon - September 3rd - September 5th.  This is the only Disney Endurance Series event that takes place on the West Coast.  Last year there were over 11,600 finishers.  There is also a special medal that you can earn by completing races at both Disney venues.

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend - October 1st - October 2nd.  This is a new event for the Disney Endurance Series, replacing the Race For The Taste 10K.  Along with the longer length, they have added a new half marathon course that runs through 3 Disney World Parks: Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, & Epcot.  The race has also moved to a night time slot and will culminate with an after hours party at Epcot to kick off the International Food & Wine Festival.

If you are looking for the king of the Disney Endurance Series then you can register now for the 2011 Disney World Marathon Weekend.  It will be occur January 6 - January 11, 2011.

Disney Endurance Series
This series of races is for the serious and the not so serious runner.  As long as you can meet the minimum pace requirements (usually around 15 minutes per mile) you are allowed to stay on the course until completion.

Speaking from experience there is something amazing about running with all of these people through a closed Disney World theme park.  The feeling is amazing.  The experience is hard to describe, so it needs to be shared.

If you are at all interested you should sign up and run one of these races.  That will be all it takes and you will be hooked.  Then you will be spending your time trying to figure out how to make your schedule work, so that you can participate in the next race.

Start training now and I hope to see you at a future race!
