New Details About Star Tours 2.0 At Disney's Hollywood Studios

As many of you already know Star Tours located in Disney's Hollywood Studios will be closing on September 8th, 2010 for a lengthy refurbishment.

Disney has recently released some more details about what the re-imagined Star Wars based attraction will look like when it re-opens in 2011.

More Star Wars In Star Tours
At the D23 Expo last year the news of the upcoming changes to Star Tours was announced.

We also learned these details:
The new experience will be in 3-D, an all new ride that includes many of the new worlds and elements from the more recent Star Wars movies. Fans have been teased with a Disney Real-D 3-D clip that threw the Starspeeder 3000 into the thick of the Boonta Eve Podrace on the planet Tatooine.

The new version will bring more Star Wars Characters and elements of the Star Wars Saga into the attraction.

Recently Announced Star Tours Update
At the Disney D23 website the following additional information about the new & improved Star Tours was announced:
The enhanced attraction — featuring multiple destinations — takes place in between the two Star Wars trilogies, which will enable Imagineers to utilize characters from both sets of films.

While the planet of Tatooine was unveiled as a destination at last year's D23 Expo, Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Show Producer Kathy Rogers announced that the bustling urban environment of Coruscant will be another.

There will be several points during each journey where the audience will be able to change where the story is going. "There's an incredible number of different variations," explains Al Weiss, president, Worldwide Operations, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "You will rarely, if ever, see the same show twice. And it's all in 3D."
Much Anticipated Improvements To Star Tours
After 20 years of thrilling Disney World theme park visitors, Star Tours will be getting an update worth being excited about.  The new storyline and new 3-D technology are both much needed updates.

The best news of all is the fact that the story will have multiple points that can vary, allowing you to ride Star Tours multiple times and have a different story with each ride.  This will be a major improvement.

Whether you are a big Star Wars fan or not, the updates that are coming to this Hollywood Studios attraction should renew your interest.
